No insecticides allowed! They might hurt the environment. Better that a thousands of Australians and their livestock starve than an ideologically impure thought be reduced to practice.

If you remember back, Australia also had a plague of mice that stood the hairs right up on your neck. After everything was eaten flat, the authorities stopped crapping around and dropped untold tons of bait grain laced with fluoroacetate. More than a hundred million mice were dispatched just after all damage they could have possibly done was completed. It was an acceptable Enviro-whiner compromise.
Republicans say, "Sterilize all female anopheles mosquitoes."
Democrats say, ""Sterilize all male anopheles mosquitoes."
So they compromised and sterilized half of each, Officially ending the problem pending further studies.
