Re: Brain Changes seen in Gay Sheep, U.S. Study Finds (Pasti)

Our IP is static, because my ISP (thankfully) doesn't use PPP over Ethernet encapsulation. Also, having ADSL service is cheaper (!) than dialup service here.

There're enough ISPs in this area for me to count on 2/5ths of one hand. Only one of them has a dialup service. It costs $25 US for a base subscription of 200 hours. Granted, you get nearly the full 53kbps allowed by the FCC, but, our house is on the internet enough that we were consistently running ISP bills of over $55.00 US. (each additional hour over 200 costs $0.50)

In contrast, the ADSL is 256kbps/128kbps, making it much faster than dialup, and it costs $40 US a month, making it considerably cheaper than dialup. Granted, I don't have a dynamic IP address, but, c'est le vie.

And no, noone DoS'd our ISP, or hacked into their servers. It was eventually chalked up to a disk drive, I believe, and was back up as of 1:30 Localtime.
