I don't know anything about your son, but the capabilities of PGD can be found on the 'net, or described by any physician with a specialty in fertility.

It does not cure any problems with a given embryo or fetus. In IVF, there are usually many embryos to choose from, and PGD helps in screening them. Only those that pass screening are elligible for embryo transfer to the patient. Those that fail are discarded.
