Through trial and error, early man decided what was tasty, and what was tasty but poisonous, over the short term.

We have supposedly evolved to consider the long run.

You, too, are made of meat - so what's on the menu tonight? Liver of dog (toxic), cat sausages or long pork? All meat, as you point out.
