- Competent anti-virus program. (McAfee has an intrusive interface.) Load the weekly upgrades. Scan your hard drive every month anyway.
- Competent firewall. (ZoneAlarm)
- Do not open executable attachments.
- NEVER use Mickeycrap Outlook. Use Eudora.
- Don't be stupid.
- Anybody who routinely patches Wincrap is playing Russian roulette with a semi-auto pistol. Have a 10-15 GB C: partition with ONLY Wincrap on it. Put everything valuable on higher drives. When (not if) you have to reformat C:, you won't lose everything.
- Blessed are the paranoid for they will have made backups.
