I am looking for references to the creation of atoms, making matter from the "soup of energy and sub-atomic particles" if that phrase is translatable into real science.

Again, I am willing to do the reading and looking up of terms and effects. I may not have a firm grasp on the higher math displayed to prove these attempts to explain what is being attempted. But I can distill enough to keep from making "stupid" assumptions in my sci-fi universe.

Which are "Area51" sites? (I understand what Area51 implies - aliens or government secrets, depending on your level of conspiratorial mind set).

Also, I agree that most (heck, all) of mass media does a poor job of reporting science, I have found it to be one of the few sites the general poster would even visit and read if you are linking data to back up a position.
