Thank you Thermus for giving me lots to think about.
I do have a question: I read that Dolly the sheep didn’t live very long because the DNA used to clone her came from her ‘mother’ who was aged 6, I took this to mean that the mitochondria must have been part ‘used up’ (my personal term!!). But then I read another article that said that cloning was having more successful results with DNA taken from older/dying animals.Unfortunately I can’t recall where I read these pieces, but am interested in what you may think. Does it have anything to do with the mitochondria?
