A machine is deterministic engineering that obeys the three laws of equilibrium thermodynamics. Life is not deterministic, it is not a machine, and it is not an overall example of equilibrium thermodynamics (e.g., it is not a closed system).

If you don't like the foregoing exposition, provide a counterexample.
