Really? In milk? Is any of what you have just said actually true? Do you have any references to confirm any of those statements? I’m not categorically saying that it is all incorrect, but I have not heard of any of that. BSE in cattle and vCJD in humans is caused by a prion in CNS tissue of the cattle. Transmission comes from consuming CNS tissue of an infected animal. There are no prions in muscle cuts of beef, or milk or hooves. That’s not to say that muscle cuts cannot be contaminated by cerebrospinal fluid, or that pet food cannot contain CNS tissue. But it’s unlikely.

I don’t think that is accurate.

Besides, it seems to be lost on everyone that this is not yet a confirmed case of BSE. A provisional positive has been declared. Samples have been sent to the UK for confirmation and final analysis. Those results will be back any day now, and then there will be a definitive positive case of BSE declared.
