I understand about the knee jerkers, but risk remains risk. The majority of gay folks over the past 20+ have never came down with AIDS, but remaining in a lifestyle that promotes a high level of promiscuity (gay or straight) increases your chances of getting burnt. And like any disease that appears capricious (People got AIDS just by going to the dentist or getting a tattoo. People wound up with Mad Cow Disease from eating cheese. You can get it from milk and all milk products. Put away the milk chocolate. Some pet food in the U.S. had it. It was even found in hard candies. Is jello still made from Cow hooves?).
So odds are you probably won't get Spongi from eating beef (and as a man from Texas, BOY do I love steak!), but if that one cow (a holstien no less(!): bred for milking. Who drank its milk and for how long?) turns out to be part of a larger infection of the herd, you and I are definitely on the High Risk list.
