I'm wondering if even a more serious outbreak would have that effect here in the U.S. I, for one, enjoy beef and would not be the least frightened by the outbreak and would therefore reap the benefits of the lower beef prices resulting from the bans other nations impose.
Even in the U.K., the public/govenment reaction to the malady was, it seems to me, far out of line with the risk.
Still, knee-jerkers exist so I know I'll be enjoying lower priced beef. I just hope undue panic doesn't ruin the market like it did over there.
