Re: Mad Cow Disease Hits US (Amaranth Rose)

Such is the power of the single US Holstein cow discovered to have BSE (mad cow disease) that
seven countrys have banned the importation of USA beef, from yesterday.
Just two of those countrys, import 50% of USA meat exports. (Japan 30% and South Korea 20%) Public fright, could decimate the American beef farmers, just as it did to the British farmers 18 years ago, when prize cattle was killed and burnt
in field pits. With the British Gov: paying a pittance for every cow slaughtered, in its efforts to get rid of a disease which is still not understood even today.
Keep on eating the Christmas turkey, and hope its just a single case.
Our farmers, in fear of losing their herds (and money) hid the fact that they had BSE on their farms for months, until they were payed to kill.
It was a horrendous time, no movement in or out of farms was allowed. The few trucks that were allowed to carry cattle to the abbatoir, had to be followed by a disenfectant vehicle that sprayed the road, every time the cattles wee wee
ran out of the back, into the road.....lest some germ was carried on 'joe publics' shoes, or even by foxes.
The British public in giving up beef, forced farmers into bankruptcy.
I would'nt wish the same effects upon yourselves.
If your Gov: is clever (but unwise?) it won't
publicise, and keep telling you that your beef is safe.
