I believe that if you attached a heavy weight off center on a spinning gyroscope it would cause the gyroscope to become unbalanced due to centrifugal force. Because a change in the center of gravity took place the spinning object will change rotation to accomodate the change in the location of the off center weight!
Since the last "flip" the area around the earth we call the equator has been spinning from west to east. For 10,000-12,000 years the Antartic continent has been accumulating the weight neccessary, among other things, to cause
the wobble in its rotation which,if it gets bad
enough might cause those of us who live in North America to end up in tropics. Not that we'll be around to appreciate the change!!!!
