This article correctly states that there have been major collapses of societies caused by abrupt climate changes. True, but it doesn't explain the reason for these changes. The reason is quite obvious.
The earth is just a big ball (globe- sphere) spinning in space, with three quarters of the surface covered with water. When the Planet makes a sudden change in the direction of its rotation the oceans and any large bodies of water end up innundating the continents with massive amounts of water causeing things like wipeing out the dinasaurs, carving out the Grand Canyon and other large canyons on the planet, etc.
This scenario takes place every eight to twelve
thousand years, And the cause should be obvious!!!
