Stop free speech, stop communication, stop people. Control speech, control communication, control people. It's security by control not by concent. It's primatively "I'm the boss don't make me cross". Did the people come out on the streets in their millions across the world demanding this change. They did for another issue which was ignored. Feeling of security come from understanding people and the world, not from a police force, army or microsoft morality. In the past people have hid behind poetry and science to talk to the world, in the hope that big brother wouldn't look too closely. Chat rooms were just too exposed to big brother... the only reason they are being closed down.
