Pasti, if you can present two test masses that reproducibly fall measureably differently in vacuum, the whole of physics will be an an uproar as spacetime curvature and Minkowski space are empirically falsified for that case.
It will be the first experimental contradiction of General Relativity.
If that sums to "has a certain merit," then I say you possess a fine sense of understatement.
