I once had a professor of physics tell me that if there was a pipe laying level on the ground , and the pipe had a elbow on one end that faced upwards and a cap on the other end , so that the pipe could be entirely filled with water and the pipe was 1000 miles long.
he stated , and showed me using physics math how the water would not flow out of this pipe if the cap were removed from the one end.
he said that the pipe resistance would prevent the water from flowing.I asked him if the pipe were large enought to walk inside of it.
he replied it did not matter...
so I then asked him , how far would I have to walk inside this pipe until I found a wall of water and could poke my finger into it...
he then said that he was busy and had other things to do.
yes I suppose that even really smart people are very busy sometimes , so busy that they forgot to learn what they are supposed to know and talk about.
what Im saying here is that in the above example of intelligence there is a large amount of common sence that is missing.
common sence would tell most people that the water would flow out , if you lack common scence and rely only
on what you have been " taught " then you can easily be found incorrect.the usage of the laws of thermodynamics is a primary example.
they are incorrect if they are applied in the wrong situations.
if I lift water to the elbow in the above example I have expended x amount of energy.
yet that water will move 1000 miles to the other end.to move x amount of water
1000 miles
10,000 miles
100,000 miles
etc...requires only the amount of energy to lift it to the elbow and pour it in...
and if you float a 100 lb container every foot of that
distance then you have moved billions of pounds of
weight that distance.
simply by lifting the water to the elbow.this proves that the laws of thermodynamics are wrong.
