Interesting find but I'd have to question statements like "The emergence of such spheres seems likely to be a prerequisite for biochemical evolution". Sure they might have come first but why suggest that 'gaseous cells' need to be present for biological evolution?
Other self-organizing systems meet these criteria as well, like Penrose blocks or Conway's life but
Greenpeace isn't out there protecting their rights, at least not yet.
