The number of electrons which pass a point is just that, it has nothing to do with the speed of the electrons. For example on an 8 lane freeway in the middle of the night there may be one car per minute pass a given point. In the middle of rush hour there may be dozens. But it has nothing to do with speed, although the speed during rush hour may be much slower than in the middle of the night.
