That's also how Feo translates in European "Castillian" Spanish and in Italian "Latin" - where it means either Ugly or Nasty. In either case, "Feo Amante" (Ugly Lover) is my wife's pet name for me, so there you have it.
Two things got me jumping right now. First is the latest theory of DNA expression (Hey! That could be a new perfume! "DNA's, Moments of Expression, by Prince Matchebelli!") and the other is the news on that guy who got that HUGE freaking drill bit augured through his head and lived! He was conscious while in emergency and even joked about it while the doctor's worked. Since this is not the first real life story along these lines, I'll be looking at this latest over the next few months or more to see if any behavior alterations emerge. May sound like some kind of rotten.com low brow curiosity to some, but the plasticity of the human brain fascinates me to no end.
As for NASA and what it can do today, apparently it can't even get people into orbit and back safely anymore. But the actual report on NASA clearly defined the start of all the problems as resting on the shoulders of our own elected representatives, who so gutted the Space Administration that they were forced into a culture of jury-rigging everything and compromising on everything to the point of hazard.
I say "forced" because, reading the report, the onl other alternative, within the budget's means, would have been to abandon all NASA projects entirely and simply run NASA as a mausoleum / museum peice. Which it largely is today. The last time I visited it, (Houston) I wanted to cry. We have fallen far, and if China and India wind up kicking our butts in the exploration and colonization of space, I can only say, "We had it coming. And will they please return our flag from the Lunar soil so we can rest it atop the NASA graveyard for the tourists.
