Hey Ugly (yeah, well, that is how "feo" translates from the language of Hispanic agricultural slaves),
1956 "Forbidden Planet" is the ultimate space opera spank-your-knee hoot, as the SR-71 Blackbird was 30 years ahead of its time. NASA as it exists today could have never gotten humans to and retrieved them from the moon before the 21st century. Apollo 13 was pure modern day NASA - the commuters were nearly killed by a safety check:
KSC got re-engineered for 65-Volt power half way through the space program. Somehow, North American never upgraded the old 28-Volt heater thermostats in the Apollo Service Modules.
Apollos XI and XII both had 28-Volt thermostats, but their tank heaters were never used on the pad. Apollo XIII's O2 Tank 2 thermostat *was* used on the pad (to empty the tank by boiling off the LOX), at 65 volts, and thus had its wiring's insulation fricasseed. Things then proceeded in eery prescience to modern day NASA.
Compare that to George Lucas using "parsec" as a unit of time in the first "Star Wars."
1997 "Starship Troopers" was a million-gallon liquid hog waste impoundment (and not with that nose-saving purple sulfur bacterium, either). Ginny Heinlein had a fit.
