(62.188.48.74)All the records seem to show that there have only been two Jewish Astronauts up in space.
Dr Judith Resnick and Colonel Ilan Ramon. But I have just learnt that in fact there have been three.
Lieutenant Colonel Boris Volynov was the first Jew to travel in space. He was the Commander of Soyez Five, the first space vehicle to effect a docking and transfer of personnel between ships, a feat accomplished in early 1969. He is alive and well and living in Moscow.
Dr Judith Resnick, was the second. Sadly she was one of seven Astronauts that died during the launch
on Jan: 28th 1986 of the Challenger shuttle. She had previously logged over 144 hours in space in the Discovery, launched on Aug: 30th 1984.
Colonel (Israeli) Ilan Ramon, an Israeli citizen was one of seven Astronauts that recently died when the Shuttle Columbia broke up over Texas, after completing a 16 day scientific mission in Space.
