How would you suggest we force corps and researchers to direct their money solely to improving quality of life, then?
A federal law against research meant to extend life? (sounds good to me, but then again, it's hardly constitutional and this is coming from someone who doesn't plan to live past 55)
Maybe government encouragements could be offered to steer researchers towards spending more to improve quality of life now, but there's certainly nothing concrete that can be done to force it all in one direction or the other.
This is, after all, a free market system. Or are you thinking figuratively? If so, then ignore my questions on how to force all the money to one side or the other.
Figuratively speaking, I agree, I'd love to see more money put towards improving quality of life than pouring some towards seeing how long we can cling to our mortal coil.
