I was under the impression that this was a picture made from data gathered from the WMAP
space probe.

also as someone else has stated that the oblong
depicted universe is due to rotation and this is the only universe , well theres nothing else out there to give it an oblong or egg shape.

a explosion is all particles moving outward in a straight line from the origin.

the expansion would have no reason to rotate.

now if this picture is a mere section of the universe that resembles a oblong sphere then , please accept my appologies for the confussion.
