Speculative cosmological string theory (as discussed in Greene's The Elegegant Universe) claims that the number of dimensions lies in the strength of the string tension constant. Regardless what kind of 'constant' determines the number of dimensions, whether it be a string constant or simply set as '3' spatial dimensions, it's still a constant, and the fact that this constant is one suitable for life is something to be noted. The fact that this is a constant IS relevant to whether or not there is one or many universes. Regardless, I mentioned mored than dimensions.
