Re: A Cloned Mule, and soon a Racehorse? (Amaranth Rose)

Thank you for the news. I too have raised a litter or two. Technically, the bitch raised them and I was resigned to scooping poop and suppling food. In one end...

In training dogs, the most efficient number is not one, but two. At least that's what I've discovered so far. But there's more, if you care to read. Train each of the team separately to do one trick very, very well. Like "shake" for example. Then bring the two dogs together and issue the same command, holding both hands out.

If both of their paws touch your hand at more or less the same time, they both get rewarded. Otherwise, neither does. It takes about a week for most dogs to catch on, but they do eventually. Once you have perfected that 'teamwork' trick, you can move on to more complicated orders. Train them separately if need be for each, and then use the same aforementioned technique to train them together. With each trick they learn, the next they learn more quickly. After a month or so you’re ready for train that team with another.

Pretty soon you have a team of guard dogs that can set their own duty roster, punch time clocks, and join a union, and vote for socialists.
