Well you see the old testosterone-laden genocidal maniac had the really really big flood and killed everything because he is good and kind and loving and all of the fossils are the bad animals and bad plants and bad insects and bad fishes that sinned against him.
Apparently the ability to create a universe comes on the cheap. The ability to create them properly, teach them well, and correct one's mistakes far more difficult.
