I do not understand the following:

Authoritative parents raising their children with a strict hand can produce both strict and lenient offspring. If the offspring is strict, is the "strict-ness" of the offspring inherited from genetics, or from the strict childhood? Or is there a psychological explaination?

Meanwhile, if the child turns out lenient, opposite of the parents, what is the cause of that?
