"Explanation of it" would be your theory, not the fact or the data. There's nothing subjective about the fact that she pointed to the lower left point.

Of course, theories have to be robust - they have to "work" in all cases; they have to make sense, etc., etc. They have to be open to falsification, but there cannot be any facts which falsify the theory.
