Re: Ultra Efficient Solar Cells On The Way (Uncle Al)

The poor birds, the noise, the scavengers running
around eating the dead.
It could all go wrong, what happened to wave power?

If we all used natural gas to heat our living space, I am sure we could get by with a small wind generator constantly charging these 24 volt
batterys that modern cars seem to be getting equipped with. Electricity for our TV's and Frigidairs and LED lighting?
LED use about 80% less power than your conventional light bulb, since they dont emit heat
They turn electrical energy into light more efficiently than the incandesent light bulb.
Light bulbs give out approx 10-20 lumens pre watt
Fluorrecents give out about 50-90 lumens per watt
But LED's give out a minumum of 100 lumens perwatt
...and they can last a lifetime.
I am not sure if they are developed to give out white light, but I did see an LED flashlite in a store here that seemed to do that (v expensive)

With LED for lighting and a TV plasma screen (I wish) I bet I could cut my electric bill by at least 60%
PS They are busy fitting Red, Orange, Green, LED traffic lights here in London....so they do seem to be the future lighting system.
