I would agree with one exception. You wrote: "heir only possible weaknesses are empirical falsifcation of prediction".

I think the one weakness has always been, and Einstein acknowledged it right up front, the inability to merge the theory with quantum mechanics into a single structure.

It is ineviable that eventually both Einstein's work, and that of QM will become a subset of a superior, more inclusive theory, just as Newton wasn't wrong ... just not general enough.
