If they do find anything of value or interest near Roswell, it will be quite amazing. I've been there; the terrain is mainly low hills and buttes, reddish sand blows constantly, and the tallest living thing is creosote bush, a stinking little phorb that grows 3-4 feet tall. The raptors, eagles, hawks and the like, that frequent the area preying on small rodents and rattlesnakes perch on the electric power poles to spy out their prey. The major higher life forms other than the birds and rodents are jackrabbits, roadrunners, antelope and the very occasional coyote. In other words, there isn't much there to begin with. Anything non-native tends to stick out like a sore thumb anyway. I expect a single pass with a metal detector and one's eyes open should suffice to find 95+ % of what is there if there in fact was a crash of some kind. It should be interesting to see what comes of it, if anything. If they do find something, I suggest they beam it out via satellite lest it be confiscated.
