Science is an axiomatic system consisting of empirical constraints upon mathematical modeling. If you need an asprin tablet or an SR-71, we can build it and it will perform to spec.

Anything else is a heuristic guess at curve fitting - descriptive biology, psychology, economics, sociology, political "science," religion... Interpolation (hindsight) works here and is used to justify "more studies needed." Extrapolation (prediction) is always a sewage pit if applied in real life.
