The laws and constants of physics intereact in such complex and fantastic ways that people of limited intelligence have to invent supernatural beings to explain what they see.
These people are to be pitied, for they will never be able to see the true beauty of nature.
True that we spoil it, but it is mostly people of your 'we are the pinnacle of creation, it is here for us' ilk that do the most damage.
