Re: Legacy of Heavy Water? (Mike Kremer)

It should be quite easy to obtain a sample of pre-atomic age water. There are thousands, if not millions of liters of aqueous substances in the world today that have been sealed and very carefully preserved for many years, if not centuries. Of course, I don't know how many people would be willing to sacrifice a bottle or two of their vintage Chateau LaFitte Rothchilds 1928 to analyzes the tritium content of the water. And it does have a pretty short half-life, considering.

And at least with tritiated water you have a chance of getting rid of it by exchange. I would be much more concerned about ingesting Strontium-90, or Phosphorus-32 labeled ATP. They tend to hang around a lot longer and potentially do much more harm.
