Let's see, there are only four known forces in nature, so I've got a 25% chance of just randomly picking the right one.
But just like the force keeping the stuff on my desk from falling right through the desktop, it's the electromagnetic force which is counteracting the effect of gravity and keeping us from falling through the ground toward the center of the Earth. The electrons in the atoms of my feet (or shoes) are repelled by the electrons in the atoms of the ground, keeping the two separate.
