uh ooooohh...say it ain't sooooooo :-)

depending on who you read, the claim varied between 96.x and 98.5%

the 98.5% figure was always an exaggeration

say...what is 1.5% of ~3,000,000,000+ nucleotides anyway

(even if that assertion had ever been true, evolutionary timescales could still not account for that much "evolutionary" change over the alleged several million years...at least not at predicted uniformitarian mutation rates...not to mention that mutations have still not been shown to produce ANY increase of highly specific complex information :-)

anyway...

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND--For almost 30 years, researchers have asserted that the DNA of humans and chimps is at least 98.5% identical. Now research reported here last week at the American Society for Human Genetics meeting suggests that the two primate genomes might not be quite as similar after all. A closer look has uncovered nips and tucks in homologous sections of DNA that weren't noticed in previous studies.

The results are quite exciting, says Michael Conneally, a human geneticist at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. With this research, "we can really find out so much more about evolution," he predicts. science linky

i love that second paragraph too...very predictable ...let's get a little evolutionary spin on this early, eh :-)

if they are more similar, it argues in favor of evolution...if they are less similar, it argues in favor of evolution

heads, evolutionary guyz win...tails, creationary guyz lose

hey hey hey, whadyaknowz, it's another win/win scenario for the evolutionary faithful :-)

yeah...i'm back...took a little time out for some golf, tennis, diving, jetskiing, waterskiing, table tennis, archery, etc...life is good and it will likely get better...because the good news is...we all gonna know the answers to all the big, important questions someday, eh :-)
