Re: ... then put your tail between your legs (Eudaemonic Pie)

There was a poll done on "Channel One", a subscriber television "news" program aimed at high-schoolers. (School systems pay money to subscribe and then the show is broadcast daily to the captive audience.) In the poll, they asked "Which do you think should be taught in school: evolution, creationism or both?" Something like %50 answered creationism, about 15% answered evolution and %40 answered both.
What I find really interesting is this concept that the tutees should be allowed to say what should be taught. Opens a whole new approach, don't you think? Like, "Which do you think should be taught in school, atomic theory or the four elements or both?" Why in the world would we expect that those who haven't yet even studied a certain subject would have the vaguest credentials to decide what is sufficiently supported to be taught? Curriculum in biology should be decided by the predominate thinking among professional, PHD biologists. Curriculum in geology should be decided by the predominate thinking among professional, PHD geologists. It doesn't necessarily mean they're right - - but still they should set curriculum.
