Sure is. The way that was determined was, of course, many years after the fire. The people at that time hadn't a clue.
What reseachers discovered was that fires were simultaneously started all over the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ohio. And not just a few ... thousands of them: Big and small. And many out in the middle of pastures and otherwise uninhabited areas.
Likely a piece just landed on the O'Leary property and she and her cow took the hit in popular mythology.
