I don't think you can patent something that can be demonstrated to occur naturally, or that cannot be legally owned. The person can't be patented; the techniques to produce the transformation might well lend themselves to patent.
In a commercial world, if two guys want a rhino horn in the middle of their forehead, light blue skin, and a crab-claw on their left arm instead of a hand, and can pay for it, they'll get it. The company that figures out how to make that happen is going to patent the procedures and processes. The product is not patentable, just the method. At least, I think that's how it is.
