If the desert can cool down so fast at night. Why not the air, just greater activity among the molocules stretching up to where the air is thin etc and they have a long way to travel before crashing into each other. Too much activity and their off into space. Have heard this is a mystery, but don't understand why. While one half of the earth is receiving heat the other half is losing it.
