BTexact's Ian Pearson makes all these predictions, and I do not doubt that some of them will actually happen. Simply because of the volume of predictions made.

As for a post in a thread above - Most cancers are already treatable. If you meant curable, this is also true - it just depends at what stage of the disease the diagnosis occurs (e.g. a diagnosis when the disease is at Stage II has a better prognosis when it is diagnosed at Stage IV (distant, invasive metastases)).

More widespread screening of a wider range of cancers will result in a massive decrease of deaths from Cancer, and knowing how much is spent yearly on R&D for the development of drugs, this would be a cheaper long term bet. But, of course, this isn't where the money is at :)
