Re: The horrid economic effect of a warmer climate (DA Morgan)

What Rose says applies but it is pretty farfetched as far as attaching blame. Fires happen. They're natural events. But lately they've been quite big. Global warming?

nope

Improper management of state and federal reserves?

yep. and par for the course.

couple that with various environmental organizations sueing state and federal land management activities preventing them from initiating prescribed burns or even clearing for that matter and this is what you've got to look forward to.

here's a couple of your favorite science sources

cnn - Hull and U.S. Forest Service chief Dale Bosworth, visiting the site, said the devastating fire should be a wake-up call to environmentalists and governments to change the way they manage the nation's forests. Here's another

bbc - Arizona Governor Jane Hull blamed poor forest management for the ferocity of the fire, which began early last week and has become the worst in the state for 90 years. "I know this country and I have never seen anything like this fire," Ms Hull said. Mr McGann from the Forestry Service said pine forests had became choked with underbrush because environmentalists had blocked efforts to clear it. "Every time you try to do a sale for logging of any kind you have the environmentalists slap a lawsuit on them," he said.

boston globe - At a command post in Show Low, a small town facing evacuation some 125 miles northeast of Phoenix, McCain said federal environmental laws make it easy to file lawsuits and appeals to block logging that removes the trees and brush that feed wildfires. McCain and other Western lawmakers want to rescind or streamline federal environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act and the National Environmental Policy Act to allow the Forest Service to move faster without the threat of lawsuits or time-consuming studies.

Funny. Not one mention of the warmer climate being blamed. I guess those news people just don't have your sources dan. So what is your evidence that the last winters warmer than usual conditions caused these fires?
