interesting...
horizontal (or lateral) gene transfer has been a hot topic of late and one of special interest to me and most particularly for the past couple of months
obviously, i came to different conclusions and one of them was that it was another hopeful mechanism that failed to explain evolution (like mutations and hox genes before it)
it will be interesting to follow the developments and see where they lead

interesting that claim about how it would completely wipe out any geneological traces beyond a given point, eh...very convenient :-)
