according to Encarta ( which being produced by microsoft is obviously never wrong )

diameter of earth: 12756km
polar diameter 42km less than the diameter measured at the equator.

Assuming the diameter they give the figure for is equatorial, there is a ratio of 1:1.0033 between the 2.

Looking at a 1024x768 computer image of the earth, where the earth completely fills the screen, would give a 2 pixel difference between the width & height
