This could potentially be used to develop test units for minerals or electrolytes in blood. It would be fantastic to be able to check for blood levels of lead, mercury, potassium, lithium, etc., in individuals on the spot without having to draw venous blood samples and send them off to a laboratory and wait three days for the results.

IMHO, the potential is awesome.
