one question i have about this emphasis on the size of the brain relates to anthropology and the Neandertals.
from what i have read, the Neandertals had a larger brain than any other human group, and yet they were not considered more intelligent than any other human group.
this seems to be the only case that i have heard of in which the larger size of the brain does not indicate more intelligence.
