Re: Girl with Half a Brain becomes fluent in Two Languages (Mike Kremer)

Synovial fluid is that which forms in and fills the joints; it serves to lubricate and cushion the joints in the body.

Cerebrospinal fluid is vastly different. It is secreted into the cavities of the brain by special cells, and contains nutrients and minerals and proteins in a much different composition than synovial fluid.

In infections such as septic meningitis, the CSF becomes contaminated with body cells and bacteria, and a tap of the spine can yield a sample that can be cultured to discover the causative organism and determine its antibiotic sensitivity to aid in treatment.

I don't know about you, but the gaps in my brain would just about be enough to hold the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701). If dripping marrow in my brain would fill them up again, I'd try it!
