Some say Cold Fusion never left the starting gate.
It seems that people work and work on it, manage to do it, then MYSTERIOUSLY... can't repeat the experiment. Now, I find it hard to believe a scientist could be so stupid to think that would fly, so there may be something to it, but I just dunno.
