As the article says:- "Rosé wine made from the same grape variety had no effect, suggesting that the active compounds must come from the skins or stalks of the grapes."
*Seems to be saying that the polyphenol compound
(which is dark in color) would be coming primarily from the red skin of the red grapes only. A lot of cheap red wines are made using the "skin waste" of red grapes after the juice has been pressed out for use in the more expensive wines.
This could mean that, cheap red plonk is better for you than more expensive varieties.
